Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for more information? You can find it here.
Where exactly is your coffee grown?
Our coffee grows in Ethiopia's highlands at altitudes above 2000m, on family-owned farms where coffee has grown for generations. We maintain traditional farming methods that protect soil health and natural biodiversity, allowing our coffee to thrive in harmony with its ancient environment. Every bean is hand-picked and processed naturally, just as our parents taught us.
How do you test your coffee?
Our coffee undergoes rigorous testing at Laboratories to ensure it's free from pesticides, mycotoxins like aflatoxins and ochratoxin A, and glyphosate, with all levels significantly below safety limits. Using advanced LC-MS/MS methods accredited by AOAC and ISO/IEC standards, we confirm our coffee's purity and safety. Each batch is verified to be of the highest quality, ensuring safe and enjoyable coffee for all our customers.
How big is a bag, and how long will it last me?
Each bag of our coffee contains 12 oz (340 grams) of freshly roasted organic coffee. Depending on your coffee consumption habits, a bag can typically make about 30 to 40 cups. Three bags would typically last about 3-4 weeks for 1-2 coffee drinkers in the household. Six bags would suffice for a family of 2-4 coffee drinkers and should last about 4-5 weeks.
What's an 88+ cup score, and why does it matter?
88+ cup score refers to a coffee's rating on a 100-point scale used by professional coffee tasters to evaluate quality. Scores above 88 are considered exceptional, showcasing superior flavor complexity, aroma, and balance. While most coffees typically score lower, and even specialty coffees often range between 85 to 86, our coffee's 88+ score positions it among the best tasting coffees available
How does shipping work?
Yes, all Origin Cup coffee is USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO. We meticulously source our organic green coffee beans from our farm in Ethiopia. Our coffee is then roasted, packed, and shipped from South Carolina, USA, ensuring it remains mold-free and pesticide-free throughout the process.
